Texas House Bill 300 (HB300): A look at the implications for Texas healthcare covered entities

Healthcare Coalition of Texas Webinar: September 25th, 2012

In June of 2011, Texas House Bill 300 (HB300) was passed unanimously by both houses of the Legislature and signed by Governor Rick Perry. Effective September 1, 2012, the H.B. 300 places stricter requirements on covered entities to protect patient privacy and expands the definition of covered entities beyond that of HIPAA and HITECH. Individuals and entities determined to be "covered entities" under H.B. 300 will face several new requirements, including: new training for employees regarding PHI; additional patient rights related to electronic medical records; the most far reaching requirements for data breach notification and the potential for increased penalties for noncompliance.  Learn how to be Texas House Bill (HB300) complaint with this webinar.
